Lorenzo Mangili - Fountain for Gessner

A work of “applied art,” it is principally intended to create an intimate diaphragm between a corridor and a short flight of stairs.  It thus conforms to the pre-existing architecture with a precise function, while also pursuing gratification of an aesthetic act fecundated by culture:  the mental link of current villa life with the thought of other “idle” generations, in particular the generation of the Romantic gentleman, constantly focused on projection of ethics into the environment, transforming the landscape and views into a moralized picture.
